Welcome
*CHARLESLEOBECKENDORF,
[/b]*CHARLESLEOBECKENDORF,
*Her Name Means Beauty,[/center]
Full name: Charles Leo Beckendorf
Nicknames: Charlie (only Silena and formerly his grandmother), Beckendorf
Age: Sixteen
Gender: Male
Sexuality: Straight
Member Group: Demigod
*Head's up on some cloud,
Personality:
Most people are immediately intimated by Charlie due to his height (6'2) and muscular build. Due to some fluke he has what looks like a permanent scowl on his face when really that is just his normal every day face. He can’t help it if people assume the worst when looking at him and frankly it keeps a lot of people from chatting his ear off, which he likes. Charlie has always been the quiet sort of guy who would prefer to sit back and take things in and listening to being one of the first to speak up. When he was younger and in school he had trouble reading and understanding so he kept to himself and stayed quiet for the most part. No one really cared to help him with his dyslexia and ADHD so he stayed in the back of the class and listened to others. That isn’t to say that Charlie never speaks up when in a group because he does, but only when he feels like he needs to be heard. In smaller groups Charlie is a normal guy who likes having fun with his friends and especially his housemates but he his shy and doesn’t know what to say around girls (especially Silena whom he has had a not so secret crush on for a while).
He has always taken it upon himself to look out for others; especially those he thought weren’t being treated kindly. He accepts them for who they are and tries to lead by example. He would consider himself to be a nice person and someone who is always willing to help out a friend when they need him to be there. Charlie likes being a leader, especially in his cabin, and is proud of his accomplishments. After this mother left and the death of his grandmother Charlie finds it hard to trust people right away. They need to grow on him before he will fully accept them and let down his guard.
Charlie has always loved to build things and when he was little he would sit around drawing up his own inventions or tinkering around with whatever was in the house. He has a sort of mild (okay sort of serious) obsession with trying to improve his own work and the work of others. Whenever he comes across something built by his father Charlie will spend days or even weeks studying it and has tried to learn everything he can about his father’s work and how he forges the things that he does. Working in the forges the way Charlie controls his ADHD. It helps him to concentrate and it gives him something to do with his hands. He always feels more alive and actually needed when he’s at camp and working. No one ever appreciated him before he found Camp Half-Blood and developed his talents. He still works on keeping his temper in check but now instead of using his fists like he used to, he uses the forge, Chiron helped him with that.
Likes:
friends, building things, cars, coming up with new ideas, Silena Beauregard, dogs, the smell of fire, raspberries, video games, broken or old things, the forge, hamburgers, his cabin, training, capture the flag, working hard, helping people, engineering, and reading (even if it’s harder for him because of Dyslexia).
Dislikes:
chocolate, monsters, milk, public speaking, superiority complexes, snakes, his mother, pickles, thunder, trying to understand girls, and cats.
Habits:
+ Talking to himself when he’s working or thinking up new ideas.
+ Rubbing the back of his neck when he’s nervous.
+ Getting tongue-tied around girls
*Don't I deserve Perfection?,
Hair: Black
Eyes: Brown
Style:
Charlie has style but he hardly ever dresses like it. Most of the time he is in the forge and so he will dress accordingly, wearing clothes that he doesn’t mind smelling like fire or ones that will end up being damaged. Most of the time Charlie will be wearing jeans and a t-shirt because he likes to be comfortable. The other side of Charlie knows how to dress and he might have a secret liking of clothes although he would never admit to it. When he’s not at camp Charlie usually wears nicer jeans and a button downed shirt or polo. The other campers probably wouldn’t recognize him if they saw him, or they would think he was an imposter.
Face Claim: Tristan Wilds
*The Inventor's Daughter?,
Olympian Parent: Hephaestus
Mortal Parent:Jane Beckendorf (whereabouts unknown)
Siblings: Jake Mason (half) numerous others (half).
Other: Grandmother – Marie Beckendorf (deceased)
History:
Charles Leo Beckendorf was born on a cold December morning to Jane Beckendorf who at the time was twenty years old and most definitely not happy about having a baby. She had met his father months before and Charlie never really found out the rest of the story. Jane dropped him off with his grandmother, Marie, leaving him in her care when he was five months old and never returning. There had been a few years where they received some post card or a note but they stopped coming eventually and Charlie gave up caring about the mother he never remembered. As for Hephaestus, Charlie never even knew he was a demigod until he was brought to camp. Marie Beckendorf took Charlie in and somehow managed to put up with a boy who would test her at every turn. Saying that Charlie was a handful would be a great injustice to what he truly was. He was hyper, angry, confused, and sometimes scared. Marie fostered his imagination and encouraged Charlie to draw and come up with different ideas. She would buy him model airplanes and cars to build, watching him as he made the most amazing lego displays, and as he got older she would give him things to repair and fix for her. She said she was glad that there was something to keep him out of trouble when he was working on his “projects.”
In school Charlie only became a distraction when he was bored but even his teachers learned soon enough if they let him tinker with projects quietly in the back of the room than he would behave – mostly. Growing up living with his grandmother and “abandoned” was wonderful fodder for the kids in his school and the younger version of Charlie had a temper that when set off caused him to expelled from three different schools in five years. He felt different because he didn’t have a mother or a father around and then with his struggles in school due to his learning disabilities he felt stupid. The only thing that Charlie felt he had going for him was his physical strength and size and so when he was provoked he fought back has hard as he could.
When Charlie was twelve the monsters found him. It would have been nice if a satyr would have found him first but that wasn’t how it happened. A manticore was the first thing to find him. The monster had been disguised as a neighbor and one night it tried to kill Charlie, seeing its opportunity. In a terrible struggle and a night that Charlie tries to forget, his grandmother was killed and he barley made it out of the house alive, surviving the next three months on his own. He was confused and scared having to fend off two other minor attacks until finally being found and brought to Camp Half-Blood. Charlie hadn't exactly gone alone willingly and the poor satyr stuck with getting him there... It was a difficult experience for both of them.
It took Chiron some time to convince Charlie of who he was and what was going on. He was still angry and upset for another year or so until he processed the information and started to deal with what had happened. It took a week before Charlie was claimed and moved into cabin 9 with his other half siblings. He found friends quickly when he suddenly wasn't alone with his problems and started to feel more at home as the time past. The forge at camp was what saved him in the end. Chiron thought that he would find a certain peace there after getting to know Charlie and he was right. Now days Charlie spends most of his time in the forge tinkering around and building different things. He likes to experiment and has a huge workspace that others have learned to leave alone and avoid or face his wrath (which isn’t what it used to be.)
As the years have passed by Charlie has spent time both full time and away from the camp for school. He likes winters at the camp because they are quite and peaceful but he also misses his friends, even the ones who tease him endlessly about girls. Well, one girl in particular. Charlie, in some odd and cruel fate, fell for Silena Beauregard and has never gotten over his crush. The crush that his entire cabin and probably a lot of the camp knows about by now. Charlie never had much experience with girls and he finds them confusing and well – they like to talk a lot in his experience so he doesn’t quite know what to say to them. It was just his luck that in some weird way he would fall for a daughter of Aphrodite. Currently Charlie is in a state of avoidance and denial, not wanting to make a fool out of himself and he’s almost positive that Silena wouldn’t want him to ask her out anyway. At sixteen Charlie is now the counselor of his cabin after the – disappearance of their old head a few years back.
Most recently Charlie returned from his quest with Clarisse, Thalia, and Percy in which they were victorious in bringing back Annabeth and Luke to camp. Charlie can’t say that he thinks much of Luke at the moment seeing as he is what he is. He never expected something like that out of him and … well disappointed and betrayed would be an understatement.

RP Example:
Drew couldn’t remember the last time he had been up this early and he hated it, even when the reason he was up at this unbearable hour was for his sister – or at least for her wedding. She would probably be so busy with others that she wouldn’t notice if he strolled in ten minutes late. His mother would notice and then she would kill him with her bare hands. This left Drew wandering around in his shorts and a t-shirt while the others were scrambling to get ready. It would take him about fifteen minutes to dress, maybe more since it was a more fancy dress sort of occasion but not nearly the hours it would take the women.
There had been parties thrown in honor of the wedding and of course Drew took it upon himself to attend each and every one of them. They all needed his attention and it would be rude not to go! He did feel slightly bad for whoever had drawn the short stick and was chosen to wake him up that morning as a pillow went flying at their head along with a few choice words… Drew Windsor was not a morning person by any stretch of the imagination.
While everyone else was running around and preparing for the day Drew had managed to sneak off to the kitchens for a breakfast. It took fifteen minutes for him to beg one of their cooks to make him a special breakfast on a day as busy as today but eventually he managed to charm her into getting his way. Eventually Drew made his way up to his rooms and changed into his pants before exiting and wandering the halls once again in formal dress pants and his t-shirt eating the last part of a sandwich he managed to knick on his way out of the kitchens. Drew was hungry all of the time and it never stopped. Thankfully he had a metabolism that was kind.
The idea came to him that he should go and bother his brother – because there was nothing else to do at the moment and so Drew made his way off to parts of the castle less traveled. Halfway to his destination he came a upon a certain young duchess seemingly dressed and ready to go, sitting in a chair with her nose buried in a book. Drew tilted his head and squinted as he tried and failed to read the title. “Are you planning on reading through the wedding as well?” he asked, smiling as he strolled into the room and plopped himself down on a coach. “What is it this time?” he asked, meaning what sort of book was she reading and what was she interested in now. Vivien was too much like his mother and it scared him. One of her was enough.
She was the exact opposite of him in pretty much every way he figured. There was nothing wrong with that of course as he still loved her and when he thought he saw some old dusty book she might like he would buy it and give it to her. Daphne was someone he understood and they got on much better but that didn’t mean he wanted or had a bad relationship with Vivien it was just different. He could still be her over protective uncle – well that was if he had ever actually seen her with a guy – he hadn’t. “Have a date for the wedding?” he asked making causal conversation.
