IF YOU'RE SCARED THEN WALK AWAY CAUSE THERE'S NO NEED TO BE ASHAMED WE ALL FEEL THE SAME
I FELL IN LOVE WITH ROCK N ROLL UNTIL I FOUND OUT IT WAS FALSE
Training. It was maybe the one thing that Thalia was doing wholeheartedly anymore. She'd throw on something to train in - jeans and the camp t-shirt with a long sleeved shirt underneath with a pair of sneakers - and go out into the cold air. She would be freezing. But that was okay. The cold helped keep her mind from thinking, because all she could focus on was her shivering. She would ignore the sparse comments she got from Chiron, about her getting sick. She would be fine. She always was. She would train, and she would tire herself out, and then she'd make it back to her cabin, and she'd shower, and then she'd fall into bed and try to sleep. She did this as a routine, now. She would lay in bed for hours, get up, go train, go try to sleep, maybe get a meal or two in there, and then play her role as bodyguard to Luke Castellan if it was her day on shift. Simple, really. But nothing was simple anymore, and this irritated Thalia more than she could ever explain. She needed simplicity, especially right now. Nothing else could be complicated for her. She needed everything to be simple so that maybe her brain could stop being so jumbled.
It was why she exhausted herself in training. Her body constantly felt tense, her shoulders tight and her back aching. It was like she couldn't relax. But then again, with everything that was going on, no one could blame her. And she knew Annabeth was the same way, something that bothered her greatly. She had let the blonde sleep in her cabin the night before, who had taken great comfort in the presence of the older daughter of Zeus. Thalia too had taken comfort of Annabeth being in the room, but she had slept while Thalia hadn't. She had stared up at the ceiling feeling sick to her stomach with exhaustion. It happened almost every night, if she stayed in bed long enough. Sometimes, she was honestly too tired for her ADHD to work it's magic, and it was like she couldn't bring herself to move. Then again, when that happened, she would usually crash for a full day before being able to do anything productive. That didn't surprise anyone that knew her at this point, especially Annabeth. The daughter of Athena was accustomed to dealing with Thalia's odd sleep patterns, and everything that went along with them.
She was thinking. She shouldn't have been thinking. The cold had made her fatigued muscles tighten up, and she was shaking a little more than slightly. But then she had a sword in her hand, and she was balanced, and she was fighting a row of dummies, slashing and stabbing at them as if they contained the essences of all her problems inside of their stuffed bodies. As soon as they were up again, due to the children of Hecate's magical spells, she would slash at them again. Her muscles, now warmed up, moved and flowed and helped her accomplish what she was trying to accomplish. It was about skill and technique and honestly she couldn't feel how cold it was, not like she could before. She wasn't shivering and she wasn't shaking and her movements were precise. These were the moments she lived for. She wanted to be out there and fighting, not stuck at camp. When she was in one place for too long, she started feeling claustrophobic, as if she wasn't comfortable and as if she couldn't breathe. Camp wasn't her home, not the way it was to Annabeth. The streets were her home, where she could keep moving and where she felt she had everything she needed, even if she had to scrounge and steal and fight for every necessity. She couldn't help but be rough like that. She heard someone coming up behind her, but she couldn't bring herself to care until the whole row of stuffed dummies was down and taking their sweet old time to repair themselves. She turned around, and found herself staring at dark hair and sea green eyes. "If it's Annabeth you're looking for, she's back at cabin one," Thalia said roughly, and waited for a response.
